  Seminary education

  as has been demonstrated on this forum, the only two positions regarding religion which are logically consistent are fundamentalism and unbelief (whether of the atheist or agnostic variety).

  an in-between position, though some of us would like to hold it, is not logically persuasive.

  yet, that is exactly the situation which is produced in mainline (or "liberal") seminaries today.

  Although not in a seminary, I am studying for a theology degree so I encounter most of what is being taught there.

  I have found my beliefs seriously challenged at times, and in some cases had to re-evaluate, but I think that the important thing is that the majority (hopefullly) go into seminaries with a sincere desire to serve God ie they feel called, and they have a solid foundation of what they believe - so in seminary, it's only their interpretation of of those core beliefs which alters, NOT the beliefs themselves. (Hope that makes sense!)

  That said, one of my friends went to train for the RC priesthood and quit seminary after 2 years, he had become an atheist, so it does happen sometimes!

  Loving my new job so far!!!!

  hey all .

  well im on my lunch break thought id quickly say hi and that so far job is going great.its funny leaving the office\bosses home and simply walking downstairs into my unit for lunch .

  i have already stuffed something up tho so waiting eagerly for him to come back from meetings to fix it for me.. but so far all is great and we are pretty comfy round each other which is nice.. .

  And what Luna said, you can almost expect to make mistakes until you get used to things so don't let it worry you too much.

  Should I quit my job?

  i'm getting a little sick of being taken advantage of.

  don't get me wrong there are times when it is a great job, it's probably my ideal job, but it has such a negative effect on me, i'm depressed when i think about going there, i lose practically all of my friday and saturday nights and there are people there that i absolutely detest.

  and i'm a keyholder, so for a small increase in salary i get so much extra responsibility and bs over it.

  There should be loads of christmas temp jobs coming up around now both warehousing and in retail. They often pay quite good too - especially if you don't mind doing twilight or graveyard shifts - even better.

  I wouldn't quit the job you're in, especially as you need the money.

  Start my trial for the new job on Mon...wish me luck

  hey all.

  a while ago i posted that i may have a job, well i start my trial on monday, neither one of us know how long this will be, he knows my plans for the next year and he and i are a bit up and down on the hiring of me, as i have repeatedely told him im not a long term asset for his company.. but he still wants to give it a go, and if we work well together he is willing to work round me and make it so i can come in for two days a week and do all the admin side rather than the accounting.. the best thing bout it at the moment is his office is upstairs of our unit where he lives so i dont have far to travel.

  anyway im rather scared havnt worked for 3 years pls wish me luck.

  My Scan Results

  as many of you will know, yesterday i received my scan results from the haematologist.

  when i entered his office he was beaming and so i thought the news would be good.

  the chemotherapy has shrunk the cancerous lymph nodes in my stomach substantially!!

  well, i've just had a couple of fun filled days.. i had just finished off re-grouting the tiles in our bathroom, when the landlords son comes over to check the job.

  he was very pleased.

  they are cheapskates, and hire the incompetence to perform home maintenance, which always requires two or three more visits before the work is either completed properly, or entirely replaced.. you see my landlord is a wealthy man, who is as giving with money, as a hungry dog with a juicy bone.. so, a solution had to be found for our apartment.
